School of Communication Undergraduate Application Instructions

2025 School of Communication Undergraduate Application
The online application portal is open from December 1, 2024 - February 1, 2025. The application requirements for each major are listed below:

Advertising

Students applying to the Advertising major should compile and submit:

A) Copies of your college/university transcript(s); official or unofficial copies are acceptable.

B) A personal statement describing your prior experiences, career objectives and overall interests that are related to your application (maximum length: 500 words).

C) Portfolio materials may include a resume, writing/copywriting samples, creative works, graphic art examples, and illustrations that are related to your application (a maximum of three examples will be reviewed).

Digital Media Production

Students applying to the Digital Media Production major are encouraged to compile and submit:

A) Copies of your college/university transcript(s); official or unofficial copies are acceptable.

B) The most current version of your resume; preferably as a PDF file, although Doc and DocX files are accepted.

C) A one-page personal statement discussing why you are applying to the DMP major.

D) Portfolio: a 5-minute reel submission showcasing samples of audio/video work would be best. In the absence of a reel submission, a portfolio of creative works will be considered. Creative works might be photography, scripts, illustrations, et cetera. If submitting a reel, please submit as a YouTube or Vimeo link with your contribution to the project detailed in the video description.

Public Relations

Students applying to the Public Relations major should compile and submit:

A) Copies of your college/university transcript(s); official or unofficial copies are acceptable.

B) A personal statement describing your prior experiences, career objectives and overall interests that are related to your application (maximum length: 500 words).

C) Portfolio materials, that may include a resume, writing examples and creative works that are related to your application (a maximum of three examples will be reviewed).

D) Complete the PR Questionnaire (online fill-form).

Please note that the application for the School of Communication is separate from the application for undergraduate admission to Florida State University. You must be admitted to Florida State University before you may be admitted to the School of Communication.

Before submitting the completed online application, please print and retain a copy for your records.
